Epic Waters Indoor Water Park

If you’re traveling to Grand Prairie Texas any time soon or are trying to plan a quick family getaway, Epic Waters Indoor Water Park is a must-visit! Epic Waters is a 80,000 square foot indoor/outdoor water park that features a retractable roof. Not only is it open year-round, but it has something for the entire family to enjoy! We recently visited the water park and experienced the family-fun first hand! Unlike regular water parks, Epic Waters doesn’t get rained out or shut down during bad weather. They simply close the roof and guests can continue having the time of their lives! If lightning is within 5 miles of the water park, the slide tower and the outside Wave Pool will close and be evacuated while all other attractions will remain open. That means no matter what kind of day it is, Epic Waters is always ready for a good time!

Epic Waters Indoor Water Park

When we arrived at Epic Waters, the first thing I noticed was the free parking. Most amusement parks today charge anywhere from $10-$50 for parking on top of already high ticket prices, so it was nice to avoid those additional fees. Walking into the park there is no way to miss the ginormous water slides! The kids immediately raced off to explore because there was so much to see! I knew Epic Waters was large, but it was more than I could have ever imagined! The older kids took off to the slides, and my daughter and I quickly raced off to the section dedicated to smaller children. I was expecting maybe one or two slides and a splash pool for the smaller kids, but Epic Waters has a full blown park! There are dumping buckets and water guns along with slides and sprinklers! This was probably one of my favorite things about the park. Since my daughter is small, we are usually very limited on what she is able to do in parks like this. She was extremely excited to have an entire section full of activities.

Rascal’s Roundup

While the kids were playing, the adults took a tour around the park. I loved that the park offered various sized personal lockers to keep everything safe, and a ton of great food options (for picky children of course)! They even had a full service bar for parents to grab a quick drink! The bar was very low-key and there weren’t a lot of drunk rowdy adults which was a huge plus for us! We had the opportunity to rent a cabana while we visited the park. Cabana rentals are $150 Monday-Thursday, and $200 Friday-Sunday. Cabanas feature private seating, privacy curtains, and exclusive amenities not avaliable to other guests. There was a flat screen tv in the cabana for guests (like myself) who prefer to lounge versus getting into the actual water. We also had a lovely waitress checking in on us every hour or so to ensure that we didn’t need anything to eat or drink. I loved being able to close the cabana and read some of my book while the kids played around outside. I also loved the idea that we had sort of a “meeting” area where everyone could meet up if they got separated from the group. I believe the cabana is 100% worth the price!

Once the kids played for a few hours, we ordered some food. I loved the variety of the menu, and the kids were able to chow down before going back into the pools! The kids got fries, pizza, burgers, and nachos while the adults opted for fresh salads and fruit! Everything was beyond amazing! The food came quickly, and was still warm when it reached our table! Our waitress was exceptional, and made sure that we were satisfied with our choices.  NOTE: Since we rented a cabana while we were at the facility, we had a waitress tending to us. If you don’t rent a cabana, you don’t get this service. However, the lines to order food move fairly quickly so wait times are minimal. PicMonkey Image (1).jpg

After lunch, the adults and the older kids decided to float around the lazy river for a while. This was definitely a favorite for the adults. It wasn’t a fast-paced ride, and guests were able to relax and float around the park while checking out other rides and waving at other families. The lazy river actually passed right behind our cabana, so every time the kids passed me they’d yell for me to look at them. This happens to be the longest lazy river in Texas, and every now and again there would be a sudden surge of waves helping guests pick up pace! The kids loved the surges because they made fun waves in the lazy river! imageedit_30_7172361914.jpg

There were so many things to do in the park that we weren’t sure what to do next! All of us were a bit too chicken to try the FlowRider, however we had a blast watching some of the other guests test their luck! The FlowRider is a wave simulator where guests can learn how to ride a wave in a safe and controlled environment. It was so much fun watching kids get up, fall, and try again! There were adults trying their luck with surfing, and smaller kids boogie boarding on their stomachs. They would get better every time they got up and tried again! There was also a 4,000 sq. ft. arcade room filled with tons of classic and state-of-the-art games. It was hard getting the children out of the pool areas to play in the arcade, but it was a great option for non-swimmers or people looking to take a break from the pool area (both children and adults)!

Overall, Epic Waters was one of the best water parks that we have ever had the chance to visit. The environment was very family-friendly, and there was something for everyone regardless of age or thrill preference. I really love the idea of the park being open year-round, as this doesn’t limit the family to fun only a few weeks out of the year. Epic Waters is actually open most holidays and weekends, so this would be a super unique way to spend Thanksgiving or Christmas! If you plan your visit ahead of time and still forget something important, Epic Waters has you covered! Their gift shop offers everything from bathing suits to souvenirs and more! I also love that Epic Waters offers so many year-round events such as Tiny Tot Time (a special parent/toddler time), Twilight Swim (available everyday starting at 4:00 PM, excludes Fridays and Saturdays), and Family Fun Fridays (4 park admissions, 2 $10 arcade cards, 1 pizza, and 4 beverages for $119). They have some great new events coming up as well such as FlowaPalooza (see details below)! Epic Waters is also right next door to The Epic, a 120,000-square-foot center with a ton of great options for fitness, arts, and entertainment. So, will we be visiting Epic Waters again soon? The answer is 100% yes! Not only did the children have a blast, but the adults also loved every second of it!
