Dance Recital Ready with Lipsense and Young Living

Ahhhhh, being a mom of girls can be so much fun. Dresses and bows take over our homes and we spend hundreds of dollars on dance and ballet lessons. Everything my daughter has worked so hard for this past year (her first year might I add), all comes down to this very exciting day: DANCE RECITAL DAY! As a first-time dance mom, I had no idea where to start when it came to preparing. No matter what I did I felt overwhelmed and everything was so hectic. A woman I worked with previously, Sonya Thompson, gave me some excellent tips on being prepared on Dance Recital Day using some of her favorite products: Lipsense and Young Living.

Sonya Thompson suggested using Lipsense the day of the recital since it is proven to stay on all day. The lipstick we used previously for our recital photoshoot didn’t last more than an hour. Since my daughter is always messing with her face and licking her lips, Lipsense was the perfect choice.  Sonya sent us a a tester of “Luv it” and “Caramel Apple as well as full size samples of “Sweetheart pink” and “Aussie Rose”. No Lipsense is complete without a gloss, so Sonya also sent us a “Silver Glitter Gloss” and some “Glossy Gloss” samples. Most of the girls ended up using “Sweetheart Pink” with “Glitter Gloss”, and a select few decided to created their own unique combinations of “Luv It”, “Caramel Apple” and “Aussie Rose”. For those of you who have never used Lipsense before, there is a very specific process to follow to ensure that the color sticks. Start with clean lips, apply one layer of color, and allow 5-10 seconds to dry. Repeat this step with two more layers of color, then follow with a gloss to lock in the color. I have noticed personally that when first applying Lipsense, there tends to be a “tingling/burning” feeling. Not severe, but enough to startle a small child if they aren’t expecting it.

My daughter is four, and the “tingling” feeling only bothered her the very first application, and it didn’t last more than 5 seconds or so. I am glad that she knew what to expect because application went on perfectly the day of the recital! We reapplied once during our second outfit change, however I was surprised at how well the color stayed on the entire show!

Young Living:

20180601_192932.jpgSonya Thompson went out of her way to create a “Dance Recital Blend” of Young Living oils for our girls to use the day of the recital. This blend consisted of “Stress Away”, “Lavender”, “Tangerine”, and “Jasmine”. Stress Away essential oil blend is a unique combination of lime essential oil, vanilla extract, copaiba, lavender, and cedarwood. All of these ingredients are blended with exotic scent of Ocotea, a unique Ecuadorian-sourced essential oil. Stress Away essential oil blend is uniquely blended to calm nerves and relax. Our “Dance Recital Blend” also contained lavender oil which has a calming scent known for reducing anxiety and emotional stress, tangerine essential oil which helps bring clarity and focus, and Jasmine essential oil which is extremely popular for  improving mood, overcoming stress and balancing hormones. Our blend contained 5-8 drops of each oil and was mixed with an olive carrier oil. Since Sonya sent our blend in a container with a roller I was able to rub a little on each girl’s wrists and behind their ears before their performances! 20180609_153643.jpgOur recital went on without any major issues, and I am proud to say that our babies did a wonderful job! The Lipsense stayed in place for the entire two hour show, and the essential oil blend kept all of the girls perky and ready-to-go! These products are not only beneficial to our dancing divas, but can be extremely useful for people during day-to-day life. I actually used some of our essential oil blend this morning before heading off to work! HUGE thank you to Sonya Thompson and her wonderful expertise!

  1. That is a wonderful gift for teen agers. My niece is fond of using lippies even at her age. It is our best bonding activity.
